my minivan

Our lease for the family car is coming due in a month so this past weekend the hubby and I called on my very helpful parents to watch the kiddos so we could go car shopping. We thought we'd get some questions answered about the lease turn in and check out some new cars. Neither of us were really sure what we wanted to do and buying the car at the end of its lease was an option. It didn't take long and I had fallen for that shiny new (to me) minivan on the lot. I tested out all the seats and checked the trunk space while the hubby and Mr. Salesman talked shop. We were sold. That afternoon I got to drive my minivan home.

The busy morning went by and I had to rush off for a haircut. I stopped on the way home for a tasty blended coffee beverage. Mr. Coffee-Man asked if I was doing anything exciting that day. I laughed and told him that I bought a minivan that morning. I told him about how my college roommates and I used to joke around about who would be the first to get a minivan. I said, "I think I just won the game...or lost it depending on how you look at it." He said, "You won. You're just playing a different game."

It's true. I never thought I'd be married with two lovely girls and a minivan to hall us all to playgroup every week. My life is not what I expected but it sure is nice. This Mom Loves perspective.

mothers' day

I had a nice day. We went to breakfast the the usual place and ordered the usual things, went for a coffee adventure, and then over to Target for a few things (which ended up being a lot of things). We had my parents over and the hubby grilled brats while I made warm German potato salad and a spinach salad with homemade honey balsamic dressing. Yum. My husband and dad worked hard outside putting together a swingset for the girls. Mom and I took the girls out to Great-Grandma and Grandpa's for a visit. It was really nice to see them; it had been too long. By the time we got back little Jr was just about ready for bed. I changed her into jammies and nursed her down while Grandma read Magoo some stories. The guys finished up, we had a light dinner, and went outside to play on the new swingset and water the garden. We spent quite awhile outside and I can't wait to spend my summer evenings doing just that. The hubby came in to give his mom a call and I finally dragged Magoo in for a bath. After she decided on what jammies to wear we read some Curious George and I told her stories about when she was a baby. I tucked my tired girl in and there you are...what a nice day.

Goofy Mama: Nursing Etiquette

I love, love, love this. My kids never wanted to hide under a blanket. Magoo was always too hot and Jr just loves to look at her mama and Mama at her. This Mom Loves Goofy Mama's take on covering up while nursing.
